Monica Hayden
Black Mountain, North Carolina, United States
Quilter since 1998. Retired. Member of the Asheville Quilt Guild (NC), and the Modern Quilt Guild of Asheville. Love modern quilting aesthetic and improvisational quilting, as well as vintage and retro style. My forte is rescuing quilts that have been abandoned and found in attics, trunks, etc., bringing them back to life, also repairing and finishing unfinished tops. I also custom make quilts using non-traditional materials such as vintage clothing and neckties. I prefer piecing to quilting, mainly because I don't feel as comfortable with the machine quilting process, but I love hand quilting. I have two adult children and two teen-age grandchildren. I am originally from Chile, but have lived in the US for almost 30 years.
