Director of Video Content

Location: San Francisco, CA

Creativebug is looking for a creative and experienced shooter/editor to join our San Francisco-based production company. Creativebug is a membership-based site that creates high quality art and craft workshops with some of the most well-respected designers in the world. Our company is small and staffed with go-getters who bring creative and original thinking to all aspects of their jobs.

We are looking for a senior-level shooter/editor to lead our production crew. The Director of Video Content must balance great organizational skills with creative problem-solving, as well as a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done. We pride ourselves on creating great content in a deadline-driven environment, so the ideal candidate thrives under pressure and thinks outside the box. This position will report to our Editor-in-Chief.

Job Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in the film or video industry
  • Several years of experience managing a small shooting/editing team
  • Ability to produce high volume of content on a tight schedule
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Premier and Final Cut
  • Knowledge of balancing, framing and lighting
  • Strong understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Strong understanding of sound operation, including problem solving with Sound Devices 702, Lav Microphones, and mixer
  • A working knowledge of After Effects
  • Excellent multitasker with outstanding people skills and the ability to stay calm and grounded under pressure

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for shooting and editing video footage
  • Responsible for directing, switching, and/or filming live shoots
  • Works with editor-in-chief and creative director on new features, video styles and promotional content
  • Establishes and maintains Creativebug style on all videos, training shooter/editors on shoot techniques and process
  • Hosts regular production meeting with crew and content editors
  • Plans class shoots, selecting crew and determining gear
  • Schedules editing of classes on shared crew calendar and class release calendar
  • Streamlines and documents workflow processes
  • Approves lighting on all video shoots
  • Responsible for media management and equipment inventory
  • Negotiates rates and schedules with contractors
  • Collaborates with art director to create motion graphics, when necessary
  • Approves music selection for edited classes

Shooter/Editor

Creativebug is a membership-based site that creates high quality art and craft workshops with some of the most well-respected designers in the world. Our company is small and staffed with go-getters who bring creative and original thinking to all aspects of their jobs.

We are looking for a shooter/editor who is creative and pays great attention to detail. We like people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done. We pride ourselves on creating great content in a deadline-driven environment, so the ideal candidate needs to wear all hats in the production department with a good attitude. This position will report to our Director of Video Content.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the film or video industry, working on a small shooting/editing team
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Premier and Final Cut
  • Knowledge of balancing, framing and lighting
  • Strong understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator
