Sewing your own clothing is incredibly empowering and even more so when you've designed a clothing pattern customized to your unique body. The foundation of drafting patterns is a sloper, also known as a "block," which is a 2D version of your 3D shape. Author, illustrator, and designer Sanae Ishida teaches you how to draft your own front and back upper body slopers by taking your measurements, transferring them to Swedish tracing paper, making the slopers, and checking the fit of the slopers by sewing a muslin. She also demonstrates how to create an optional bust dart. Once you've completed your upper body slopers, you'll have the tools you need to draft patterns for shirts, coats, and dresses.

Absolutely the best class ever for pattern drafting. I watched so many online, only to think I understood parts but kept asking but how did they get a drafting measurement. It was not till I did this fantastic class with Sanae that I began understanding. She added just enough more information that I got it and finally start understanding what was really going on. I did watch the drafting part over several times, but each time I got something more from it till I knew I could do it on my own. I did not print the extras at first and when I finally did, I could see how it would have even made it easier to learn. One thing I realized when I did print them was that Sanae had a book written on it. I ordered it immediately, I realized the drafting info she was giving us was from her book because it had page numbers on it. I highly recommend everyone ordering the book because then you have it forever, you wont have to print the extras, but that too was very nice to be included in this creative bug class besides its nice to have a part you want to work on, all in a few pages. Cant wait to get my book and also want to order a few more by her. I really just want to say Thank you, because I was so confused with some other videos I had watched and was about to give up on the drafting part. Thanks again
