Collage invites us to look at the world and see possibility in every scrap and shape around you. Bay Area artist Erin McCluskey Wheeler has built a lifelong creative practice from this simple shift in perspective, and she shows you how to do the same. You don’t need a special stash of papers to begin—Erin guides you through making your own painted collage materials and shares her favorite ways to find and reuse everyday papers. While you're free to work in any size, Erin creates 4x4-inch collage studies, each day introducing prompts that explore color, composition, layering techniques, and processes to help bring your ideas to life. If you choose to follow this format, by the end of the course you’ll have many individual squares that can be curated into a larger, cohesive art piece. Ultimately, collage becomes an act of recycling yourself—repurposing materials and ideas to create something entirely new.

I found myself saying Yuck- at the beginning when Erin picked out certain colors to go together but then when she finished trimming the edges, it all worked so well together. This happened many times- I didn't like it at about the halfway point, then at the end, the artistic vision became clear. Amazing.

This was so enjoyable. Thank you Erin for another awesome class. I love your style of teaching and how each day was a new window of a technique that helped me think about the many ways one can approach collage.
