Jamia Weir
Artist-teacher. Fiber art, collage, mixed media, sculpture, repurposing, upcycling, fashion, trashion, performance art, comedy, improv, clown. I have recently taken on a personal study of "improv quilting" and am applying it to art and fashion pieces---it has been interesting with my experience with improv acting, to apply those concepts to quilting, which I feel I already do to some extent in my own art making, as I always try to "follow my art." This idea enables me to adapt, be open to change and use of my intuition as I create, but at the same time, I wonder if I won't ever be an "expert" at any one art form. I've decided I don't care. I am a free spirited artist. My role as art teacher in an elementary school also benefits from my "Jane of all art forms" expertise.
