Learn how to use an acrylic template to make your Dresden Plate, then work hand and machine-quilted details to add texture. Finish by making your own piping and sewing the pillow envelope-style.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • 1/2 yard fabric for top of pillow
  • 3/4 yard fabric for backing and piping
  • Selection of 8 fat quarters of fabric for Dresden plate
  • 18 degree acrylic Dresden template
  • Low loft batting
  • 1/2 yard Heat and Bond or fusible webbing
  • 2 yards 3/16" filler or piping cord
  • Erasable marking pencil
  • 16" x 16" pillow form
  • Seam ripper
  • Embroidery floss
  • Pins
  • Small scissors
  • Fabric shears
  • Rotary cutter and cutting surface
  • Freezer paper
  • 6" plate or disc
  • Sewing machine and matching thread
  • Iron and ironing surface

She didn’t talk about washing the pillow casing. I’m wondering how the batting will hold up since it’s not covered by fabric on both sides. I really liked the examples of what you can do with this technique.
