Join us for a month-long creative journey with artist and illustrator, Lisa Congdon. In this 31-day painting challenge, Lisa shares her love of designing colorful patterns and painting with gouache. Each day you will learn how to paint a new pattern, including traditional designs, botanicals, geometric shapes and motifs made from everyday objects. Challenge yourself to draw inspiration from the world around you, working alongside Lisa as you hone your daily painting practice. What you'll get:
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 6” x 9” 140lb cold press watercolor paper
- Assorted fine-tip and flat-tip watercolor brushes
- Gouache paints (Lisa uses Acryla gouache; she recommends a combination of red, pink [which you can make by mixing red with white], yellow, yellow ochre, blue, white, a shade of green or two, black, brown and a wine color)
- Watercolor or markers (optional; can use instead of gouache)
- Palette
- Pencil and eraser
- Ruler
- Water
- Paper towels

I have not been able to paint all the classes and hope they will still be accessible after the 31 days.

Before viewing this class, I was not very interested in making patterns. I had accidentally made a pattern once before in a wrapping paper class I took at the library, but otherwise thought I was just interested in realistic art. Now, I'm a fan of patterns and may even continue making them as Lisa suggested. Thanks so much for this class
