Sew It All Season 1 is all about creative reuse, playful experimentation, and clever sewing solutions. Join host Ellen March as we transform everyday materials—dish towels, T-shirts, denim, plastic bags, sweaters, and men’s shirts—into fresh fashion and home projects. Build skills by exploring decorative threads, free-motion stitching, serger techniques for knits, and simple pattern-copying methods. From fabric art and storage to couture-inspired upcycles, this season celebrates sewing that’s inventive, sustainable, and full of personality. Patterns mentioned in each episode are linked below.
Episode 1 — Fabric Wall Art with Debbie Mumm
Redecorating a room doesn't have to mean changing all the decor, sometimes all you need to do is swap out a piece of artwork. Create a piece of fabric artwork with the help of Debbie Mumm and the magic of fusible web.
Episode 2 — Awesome Aprons with EllynAnne Geisel
Aprons don't just serve a practical purpose, they give you a sense of nostalgia, too. EllynAnne Geisel shows how to use dishtowels to create a sweet and simple apron. Plus, tips and tricks for how to make a ruffle with a sewing machine and a serger.
Episode 3 — Smart Storage with Tina Givens
Are you in need of a little organization in your life? Cover a recycled cardboard box with fun fabrics from your stash for a budget-minded and eco-friendly alternative to spendy storage bins. Plus, bonus info about seven different kinds of pleat applications.
Episode 4 — Thread Bowl-erama with Eric Drexler and Emmaline Norton
When you're learning how to sew, it's a good idea to experiment with a bunch of different threads and stitch types. Play with decorative threads using water-soluble stabilizer to create thread bowls.
Episode 5 — T-Shirt Transformation with Megan Nicolay
Grab a T-shirt from your closet and some fabric from your stash and transform a plain T-shirt into a fabulous wrap top that's perfect for summer. Plus, tons of bonus info about making bias tape and how to turn leftover strips into a bracelet.
Episode 6 — Denim Do-Over with Carmen Webber
Recycle denim into fabulous fashion! Upcycle a denim jean jacket by adding sweatshirt sleeves and a collar for a quick-and-easy couture makeover. Plus, a quick fabric flower detail to add to your jacket or bag.
Episode 7 — Knockout Knockoffs with Steffani Lincecum
Do you have a favorite skirt that fits perfectly? Learn how to duplicate a favorite skirt using a paper rub-off technique.
Episode 8 — In the Bag with Susan Wasinger
Go green and recycle plastic bags to create a unique fabric. Then transform it into a handy lunch tote!
Episode 9 — Free-Motion Frenzy with Eric Drexler
Learn about using free-motion stitching to create embroidery without using an embroidery machine to make funky accent pillows and jazzed up jeans.
Episode 10 — Knit Wit with June Mellinger
Knit fabric is so comfortable to wear but it can be tricky to sew because it's stretchy. Learn how to use a serger to make sewing knits a breeze.
Episode 11 — Sassy Softies with Casey Buchanan
If you've ever accidentally shrunk a sweater in the wash you know all about felting wool. Recycle a thrift-store sweater into a cute felted wool softie and modify the cat pattern to be an owl.
Episode 12 — Menswear Modification with Kathy Cano-Murillo
A button-down shirt might seem boring but cutting it up and adding some flare will transform a men's dress shirt into a cheery, colorful blouse. Plus, bonus drawstring bag made from the sleeve.
Episode 13 — Elements of Design with Suede
Fashion designer Suede explains his fashion design process and demonstrates how to combine fabric and trim to create different looks onto new patterns and exsisting garments. Plus, how to make a quick and stylish braided belt.
