Michele lives in North Central Connecticut with her husband, Dan, and family, and has a fine arts degree in painting and photography. At an early age, Michele's Mom would find her in her room sewing, painting, knitting or crafting before anyone else was even awake. Her first love has always been fiber arts, and she loves to make fiber jewelry and felted items that you can view on her web site www.lolarae.com as well as images of her gardens, pies, soups, quilts and other crafty things. Her "Midsummer Night's Dream" pie graces the cover of Pieography and she recently published her first book Quilting the New Classics: 20 Original Designs Modern to Traditional.
Michele strongly believes that the process of creating is as important as the end result, and she especially enjoys teaching and helping others discover their creative passion. Working at Simplicity Creative Group for over ten years has given her the opportunity to share her love of crafting and teaching with people all over the country, and has also renewed her love of sewing and working with patterns. She has created two craft patterns for the Simplicity catalog and has helped in product development, PR and advertising.
Michele is a board member of the Quilt Alliance, whose mission is to preserve quilts and their makers for future generations with the generous support of SCG. Michele's work and studio has appeared in Where Women Create, Where Women Create Quilters, Quilting Arts, Knit Simple and other national publications as well as on Quilting Arts TV, Creative Memories and now Creativebug!
