Daily Book Art Challenge: A Month of Book Art Ideas
Faith Hale
What is book art? It is a way to merge art and bookbinding techniques to make a one-of a-kind handmade book. With a Master’s degree in book art and creative writing, Creativebug staffer Faith Hale shares her passion by demonstrating a technique, structure, or prompt every day for an entire month. Working alongside Faith, you will create a totally unique book page by page, building skills and techniques as you go. You’ll learn how to cut flaps, create pop ups and moving pieces, discover inspiration, cull language from found sources, and use text in new and inspiring ways. These pages come together to create a sampler of techniques, and at the end of the month, you will learn how to create a text block, add hard board covers, and bind your book.

Anne Weil
Combine hundreds of yards of finger-knit chains to create a plush, one-of-a-kind cotton rug -- no knitting needles required!. Anne Weil teaches you the basics of finger knitting, then shows you how to make your very own weaving loom out of simple craft materials. You will learn how to weave your finger-knit chains to make a gorgeous, striped design and finish the rug with decorative tassels. Finger knitting is a fun activity for all ages and a great way to introduce newbies to knitting. Get the whole family involved in the project and you'll have a finished rug in no time!
Acrylic Ink Painting: Starting a Travel Journal

Missy uses photos from her travels as a jumping off point, capturing the feeling and mood of the moments they depict. She recreates a nocturnal scene in this class, sharing her impressionistic approach to color and brushwork. By watching Missy work, you will learn how to paint with acrylic inks, breaking down a landscape into masses of color, then working in layers to realize composition and detail. Missy shows how to work with mistakes, mix colors right on the page, and paint your way through photographic moments, made more nostalgic and romantic in the painting process.
