Maggie is a Vermont-based fiber artist, with deep roots in Oakland, California where she and her mother started their knitting design business, Pick Up Sticks. Maggie is interested in stretching the boundaries of what people expect from knitting, so she shies away from “wearables” and instead designs life-size knitted and felted flowers, delicate owl hats for newborns, and sturdy Ugg-style boots. She loves to play with innovation, including unusual stitch techniques, blending fiber with fabric, and shrinking wool knits down into moldable, sculptural shapes. Maggie is the author of two books on felted knits, Felt It and Felt Forward. You can find her patterns at her website pickupsticksonline.com.
