In one great smelling afternoon, you can learn the basics of cold process soap making and make enough soap for everyone on your holiday list. Lindsey from Clean Getaway Soap demystifies the process and walks you through a batch of soap from start to finish. Along the way you’ll learn how to safely mix soap, add color and scent, and finish with stamps and gift wrap. Download the recipe to follow along.

 
Here’s what you’ll need:
Materials:
  • Olive oil pomace
  • Coconut oil
  • Palm oil (or substitute another “hard oil” like tallow, lard, cocoa butter, or shea butter. Just like a cooking recipe, experiment until you find the perfect blend for you!)
  • Avocado oil
  • Essential oils
  • Micas
  • Lye

  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Pyrex bowl
  • Kitchen scale
  • Immersion blender
  • Paper towels
  • Freezer paper
  • Mold or cardboard box
  • Silicone spatula
  • Stainless steel spoons
  • Chopstick

  • Enamel or stainless steel pot

  • Spray bottle of white vinegar

so this was great to watch, I have a question. I always measured the oils and lye and water to 120 degrees then mixed. Is this way where you add the lye water to the oils fool proof? or does it ever not work well like in the winter etc? Do you heat any of the oils that are solid first then add to the lye water?
