Artist, instructor, and textile enthusiast Missy Dunaway explores why we collect textiles, where they come from, and what can they teach us as artists, all through the medium of acrylic ink. In this class you’ll follow along in order to capture and recreate heirloom textiles of your own, using the examples of a quilt, a carpet, and a scarf. Missy's strategies of looking closely through painting can be applied to any textile with personal significance that you want to preserve and honor.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • FW brand acrylic ink - Missy uses the following colors: Indigo, Rowney Blue, Process Cyan, Turquoise, Dark Green, Light Green, Lemon Yellow, Indian Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Crimson, Scarlet or Flame Red, Process Magenta, Burnt Umber, and White
  • 22 x 30" sheet of 120 – 300lb Arches hot press watercolor paper
  • 22 x 30" sheet of 120 – 300lb Arches cold press watercolor paper
  • Kolinsky sable watercolor brushes size 1-16
  • Cotton rag 
  • Palette (optional)
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Ruler
  • B & J Masters brush cleaner
  • PDF of all images

Beautiful technique of preserving item that are special and can live on in paint. Also the acrylic ink painting is new to me and I love it. Will begin to use what I've learned here. Must watch again. Found it very relaxing as well.
