Catalina Atria
Valparaíso, Valparaiso Region, Chile
I am a triple citizen of the world (Chilean by heritage, Spanish by birth, and American by choice). I was a public high school teacher for many years and had the pleasure to guide students in Chile, Thailand and SF, CA, where I resided for 9 years. My husband and I now live in Valparaiso, Chile, where we are setting up our dream B&B and bar in a World Heritage house: Casa California.

I inherited my love of fiber from my Mama Flora -my paternal grandmother- who taught me to knit at age 5. I learned to crochet in a 5th grade workshop where I made a huge vest that was perfect for the 90s. I hand sewed my first dress in senior year in high school (an awkward empire waist halter top that I wore all the time and wish I still had) after which my parents decided I deserved a sewing machine. I began to really knit in college. I love knitting, crocheting, and sewing and I am always trying to learn a new technique. I wish I could weave more but lack of space (and time with so many guests) is an issue. I also enjoy traveling, reading, playing music (actually singing to my husband's guitar strumming), hula-hooping, bjj, running, and weightlifting. I love to meet people and making sure they leave Valparaiso with great memories. I love life in general and I'm always in a great mood. Of course, I love cats, dogs, and plants. Life is the best.
