This fun and flirty Love Note Zine begins with a single sheet of beautifully marbled paper made using shaving cream and food coloring. Bel Mills, the artist behind Scrap Paper Circus, walks you through the process and shows you how a few simple folds turns a single sheet of paper into a pretty booklet ready to fill with a heartfelt message. Open to book artists of all skill levels, this project is a wonderful way share creativity with loved ones.  
Here’s what you’ll need:
To make marbled papers:
  • A few sheets of white cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Two foil pans, 9" x 13"
  • Shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • Chopsticks
  • Plastic ruler
  • Large plastic spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Something to protect your work surface, such as canvas or newspaper
  • Plastic gloves to protect skin from staining
 
To construct your card:
  • Cutting mat and craft knife
  • One piece of colored cardstock, grain short, cut to 4-3/4" x 3"
  • A few sheets patterned cardstock
  • Patterned papers, collage elements, rubber stamps and ink, postage, stickers, and other decorative materials
  • Washi tape
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Bone folder
  • Glue stick
  • Double-sided tape or adhesive runner
  • Optional: Paper punches, edging scissors, label maker and tape, white gel pen

I have made zines in this style before but I am inspired to use Bel's marbling technique & some of her decorating ideas in my next project. Also, thanks for the tip on spritzing the paper with glue stick. Looking forward to more classes from Bel!
